Torino 2008 World Design Capital is an Icsid initiative of IDA - International Design Alliance
Icsid, the World Organization of Industrial Design, has elected Turin first “World Design Capital” for the year 2008, acknowledging the success of the city and of Piedmont as a whole, in relation to the thorough transformation process currently in the making that is the result of strong manufacturing tradition, innovation and research.
Over 120 events focusing on four main subjects are on the Agenda - Public Design, Economy and Design, Education and Design, Design Policies – representing four different design concepts, which address four specific target groups: citizens, companies, training and institutions.
Just like World Design Capital, Turin is also asked to represent Italy as a whole, as part of its project and design tradition, while also promoting the values of ‘Made in Italy’ products worldwide.
